Microwave radiation lies between infrared radiation and radiowaves with frequencies from 900 to 2450 MHz. Heating of the tissue is based on agitation of water molecules inducing cellular death via coagulation necrosis; electrical charge on the water molecule flips back and forth 2–5 billion times a second depending on the frequency of the microwave energy.¹
